Beautiful Heroes

Healing Arts Toolkit, Philippines from Arts Aftercare on Vimeo.

The video slideshow above features photos taken by John Keatley during our trip to the Philippines this past March where we trained 24 staff from six organizations in the use of our Healing Arts Toolkit.

The slideshow contains portraits of some of the heroic women who have escaped from sexual exploitation and slavery in the Philippines, who are now going through the aftercare process. Their inspiring stories remind us hope is not lost. Even in the depth of chaos and pain in human trafficking, restoration to new life and beauty is possible and it remains our work and our goal.

Thanks again to John for using his incredible talent as a photographer to help us share the story of human trafficking, and the beauty and healing that is possible through aftercare and the arts.  Thank you also to everyone for your support and involvement in the fight against human trafficking.  Please make a tax-deductible donation of any amount to help us bring beauty and healing through the arts to more survivors of slavery.  $120 purchases one Healing Arts Toolkit that one aftercare organization can use to serve dozens of survivors of slavery per year.  Your financial support is critical to our work.  Donate here.

It hasn't been simple loinkog for details about this matter as there are so many internet sites that merely wish to advertise without any useful care for the reader, but this blog has been very helpful and the details supplied have not been to tough to make use of.

Mar19Hannah Miet Thanks, guys. @Chris You're right. The program I'm in is all about buirnng us to the core so we can handle anything when we're out of school. But something needs to change for my sanity, and it's not the program. It's more focusing on it (poetry will always be a part of my life, but I'm not trying to do 8 things at once) and plowing through a stressful amount of work without the feeling stressed. Just doing it. It's nice to know that you've been watching from afar. I wish that old fashioned wasn't an air cheers across continents. @cj I've never lived anywhere besides New York. Except for a semester in Paris, and this summer, 3 months in New Orleans. We must have the same inclinations. I tend to stay in America for a while. Because I've yet to scratch the surface of knowing and exploring it. Austin is on my list of American cities to live in when I graduate. All depends on my "job" situation. But. There's no reason to think negatively about that. Unless I intend to stifle myself before I even begin. Thank you for reading. @Allie " strong in the broken places "Don't think my obligation to The Hemingway is forgotten, by the way. @Kim I am not a true journalist. I did take wound photos. But not blue ones. It was more like, "holy fuck, I'm turning blue EMERGENCY ROOM." Though the urge for documentation was there once I was sliced open.

Feb28Chris Gooch Have been following from afar with great inserett. Amongst other things Hello, Absurd World updates, Linebreak, the Bowery Poetry readings, the NYT and now your internship!Thoroughly deserving, although I worry of course. Worry that you are spreading yourself too thin and turning blue as a result.Although it is clear that there has always been enough substance to go around, there is a difference between burning brightly as you do, and burning yourself out.I'm raising an old fashioned in your direction and toasting to both your accompolishments and your health.

I have been looking for adcvie on this topic for quite a while, particularly one where you feel confident enough to adopt the adcvie. I would feel confident enough to tell anyone to use the suggestions mentioned here.
